| Jun. 12th, 2006 12:21 am It seems that every year at least one grad from North Van dies. So sad. Hits home because my sisters are graduating this year.
North Vancouver teen dies after being hit by transit bus June 11, 2006 - 10:24 pm By: John Ackermann www.news1130.com
North Vancouver's Handsworth Secondary School remains in shock following the death of an 18-year-old student leaving a grad banquet this weekend. Quinn Keast was struck and killed after stepping into the path of an oncoming transit bus at Howe and Smithe in Vancouver at around 12:30 Sunday morning. He's described as a star athlete and captain of the Handsworth basketball team, winners of this year's provincial championship. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene after he stepped out of a van, on his way to a private afterparty. Ken Neale with the School District of North Vancouver says hours later the school became a magnet for those who knew him and many were overcome with grief. The District's Critical Incident Team, consisting of several grief counselors, will be available to help people cope. Neale can't say if the tragedy will cause a review of the district's grad policies or if final exams will have to be rescheduled. The Vancouver Police Department, as well as TransLink and the Department of Transportation are investigating the accident. The bus driver reportedly had about a year of experience. | Mar. 5th, 2006 08:34 pm I'm wondering what it looks like to see me and Chris together. Last week on Wednesday, we went to the Westwood for wings with Nathan and Cole. We weren't being all cute like we are when we were at home, but the waitress asked us if we were together. Maybe she saw us some other time and we were holding hands or something...we do go there every Wednesday. But then on Thursday night, when we went to the College Heights Pub, the waitress put our food and drinks together. There was 6 other people with us that night and they all got separate bills except for Chris and I. I'm just wondering what kind of vibe we were giving that said we are a couple. Because I was so tired on Thursday night and we weren't being cuddly or anything. Its just something for me to ponder...

| Mar. 5th, 2006 10:19 am I haven't updated in a while because I've been sooo busy. Today is my day off. My first day off from school and work in a long long time. And I need it. I just feel like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown from school and work pretty soon. I'm going to start applying for new jobs today. And do an English essay. Wow my life is boring. 1 comment - Leave a comment | |

| Mar. 2nd, 2006 01:12 pm Yesterday was the first good day in a long long time. I got a B+ on my research proposal, and a B+ is hard to get with this prof! Apparently last year the highest mark was a B. So I celebrated and went to the Westwood and had a drink with my wings last night.
I need a day off from school and work. Hopefully they didn't schedule me to work on Saturday or I might die... Leave a comment

| Feb. 28th, 2006 11:50 pm I am drained. Yesterday I had my routine allergy shot but went into anaphellictic shock. My throat and tongue started swelling up. It was the same kind of feeling that you get when you go to the dentist and you get freezing and your tongue feels like its taking up your entire mouth. It was pretty scary. The doctor gave me adrenilline, now that stuff is weird. I couldn't sit up I was shaking so much. Then they called security and put me on oxygen. I was conscious the whole time, but very scared. Security went and got Chris out of his class before the ambulance came. I was taken to the hospital and was fine by the time I saw the doctor. She gave me pregnozone and an epi-pen. Just so you all know, my epi-pen is in my purse. I'm on benedryl.
Today when I saw the school nurse my BP was back down to its normal low but when she checked my chest she heard a faint wheezing sound. I may have a little virus though because everyone is sick right now. She wants me to be checked everyday. I have an appointment with my family doctor tomorrow and hopefully I can get in to see my allergist asap. Tonight I was having problems breathing when the boys were burning stuff outside...and I was inside. Damn Prince George and its horrible air quality. 1 comment - Leave a comment

| Feb. 25th, 2006 07:12 pm Yesterday was a pretty good day. I felt so accomplished after I had finished my psychology research proposal. I had a very nice dinner with Chris, Dan, and Laura at Ric's Grill downtown, compliments of Chris and Dan's aunt and uncle. I must send them a thank you card. Because that is what his aunt would do. It was a very expensive dinner.
This morning my alarm didn't go off (stupid me setting it to PM instead of AM) so I woke up at 9:30, when I was supposed to be at work opening the store at 9. Chris made me smile when he said, so what are they gonna do? Fire you? Oh wait, they basically already did that. So I rushed to work (in a cab) and opened the store and Reena from the Naturalizer shoe store across the hall helped me. What blows me away is that she also offered me a job today. I mean, who offers someone a job when they see that they are late for their current one? So I'm dropping off my resume tomorrow.
Today was a stressful day and I nearly had a nervous breakdown a many times...I'm just sick of the following questions:
1. Are you really closing? ME - No we just put the signs up for laughs.
2. Where are we going to get our craft supplies? ME - Hello? Where am I going to get a job? Maybe after I get another job I'll worry about where YOU ARE GOING TO GET YOUR CRAFT SUPPLIES!
3. Why are you closing? ME - Because we were bought and the company that bought us is going to liquidate us. THEM - So are they going to open a different craft store here? ME - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you stuipd bum.
4. So are you going to be getting more wool in? ME - What part of closing out sale do you not understand?
Senario: Customer comes up to buy something and they are a Lewiscraft member. Lets say they have 2 balls of wool and some flowers. They hand me their 40% off coupon for the month and get the shock of their life when I tell them that they can't use it because we are no longer Lewiscraft, we are Bentley (yes a luggage store bought us, those shitheads). Then they get all pissed and to calm them down I say, "Well instead of using your 40% off coupon on one item, how about I give you 30% off on all your items? Which obviously is a better deal, but I'm telling you, some of these people are slooooow. When they finally get it I ring them through and roll my eyes to myself because that is what everyone is getting because we are closing.
God some people are just so stupid...
Don't get me wrong, I really love my job, its just, right now, I hate it. I'm glad I didn't have a nervous breakdown today, cause I was close to it a few times... 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Feb. 23rd, 2006 10:58 pm Oh my goodness I have had the shittiest week. I thought the week before reading break was going to be my week of hell, but oh no, this week certainly was.
Monday - Heather got in a little car accident (everything's okay) so we missed our midterm. Luckily our prof is WONDERFUL and is letting us rewrite.
Tuesday - Found out that I failed my cognition midterm. Had a nice loooong cry that night.
Wednesday - Not a horribly bad day, just really, really long.
Today - Started freaking out because my research proposal is due tomorow and I hadn't even read the articles for my lit review and that was 45 pages of reading. While I'm doing this, Cindy (my boss) calls me to say Lewiscraft has been bought and we are now closing, within 90 days. Had my 2nd nice cry of the week in the councillors office at the school. Came home and had a nap (instead of working on my paper) and went to work where I had to deal with the worst customer of my life. Don't really feel like bitching about it anymore.
So tomorrow I will be in the library or at Tim's if anyone is looking for me. Party tomorrow night and I am going to get hella drunk! Leave a comment

| Feb. 17th, 2006 09:14 am Yesterday was a pretty uneventful day. When I got home from visiting my great-aunt I watched American Pie Band Camp with Chris...pretty horrible movie let me tell you...but it was nice to sit and do nothing. While I was watching the movie I was updating my iPod, named kPod (I know I'm clever) and I have over 400 songs on it now.
I had another massage yesterday and today is the first day I don't feel all tense. I also phoned work yesterday and found out I'm working 21 hours next week, because one of the other ladies quit. I have to admit, money is very stressful. But stress no more!
Chris and I went to Metrotown with Justin and went to this all you can eat sushi place in the asian part...I didn't get all you can eat because it was $20 and I can't eat that much, but oh did the boys. While they were still eating I went to check out Lewiscraft but that part of the mall was blocked off by the police because of "a police incident at the skytrain". I never found out what was going on.
Chris and I met up with my cousin Erica and her boyfriend Ryan for an improv show on Granville Island. It was pretty funny, but not as funny as it could have been. Still...a good time. We then drove to Coquitlam where they live and we went to Boston Pizza for some food. Then I saw Erica's new place and we drove home and got home at 1am to fall straight into bed asleep. I was so tired.
Today we're meeting Nikki and her boyfriend James for breakfast at IHOP. Then we come home to clean the house and tonight we're going to have dinner with my uncle and go see the Harry Potter movie IMAX! Leave a comment

| Feb. 16th, 2006 12:22 pm Yesterday I slept in until 1:30pm. It was nice to finally have a sleep in day. I woke up and went to the chiroprator and then went to visit teachers at STA. After that I came home and cleaned the house. Picked Vicki up, went to the grocery store, and picked my grandma up. Picked Amanda up from school and we went home and made spaghetti for dinner. It was nice to see my grandma. Dropped Amanda at babysitting, Vicki at her group home, and my grandma at her place.
Cat came over and we searched all of the movie rental places to find "Proof". We finally found it at the movie rental place in Lynn Valley. It was a real thinking movie and I don't think I thought enough about it. But it was a good overall movie.
This morning I woke up and went to visit my great-aunt up the street. She was telling me lots of stories about when she was younger. It was a nice visit. I should be doing homework right now, but I'm not particularly in a homework mood.
This afternoon I have a massage and then Chris and I are going over to Metrotown. We are going to meet my cousin and her boyfriend for dessert later tonight. This trip has gone by waaaay too fast. Leave a comment

| Feb. 8th, 2006 10:30 pm Two days. I cannot wait! I didn't study a whole lot today. I had a migraine. It was pretty bad and I didn't go to Sparks. It probably is due to all the stress of exams and such, this is the worst week for my semester. Well, I'm off to bed. Wish me luck on my cognition exam! 1 comment - Leave a comment | |
